Formal Complaint Regarding Islamophobic Content on GB News (6 February, Patrick Christys Tonight)

Dear Ofcom Complaints Team,

I am writing to submit a formal complaint regarding a broadcast on GB News that aired on 6 February during the programme Patrick Christys Tonight (21:00–23:00).

During this broadcast, GB News allowed an unchallenged and baseless allegation to be aired which portrayed Muslims as collectively celebrating Eid by inviting families over to sexually assault “young working class little white girls.” This claim is demonstrably false, deeply offensive, and constitutes an extreme form of Islamophobic stereotyping.

The allegation was presented without evidence, context, or any attempt at challenge or correction by the presenter. Allowing such content to go unchallenged amounts to endorsement by the broadcaster and risks legitimising hatred, fear, and hostility toward Muslims as a group.

I believe this broadcast breaches multiple sections of the Ofcom Broadcasting Code, including but not limited to:

• Harm and Offence: The content was highly offensive and capable of causing significant harm, particularly to Muslim audiences, by portraying them as inherently predatory and criminal.
• Due Accuracy: The allegation was made without any factual basis or verification.
• Impartiality and Responsibility: GB News failed in its duty to challenge an inflammatory and defamatory claim, instead allowing it to be broadcast as propaganda.
• Protection from Hate and Discrimination: The broadcast promoted negative and dangerous stereotypes about a protected religious group.

Such claims contribute to real world harm by fuelling anti Muslim hatred, misinformation, and potentially inciting hostility or violence. Given the current social climate, the irresponsible airing of such allegations is especially concerning.

I respectfully request that Ofcom investigates this broadcast, assesses whether it breaches the Broadcasting Code, and takes appropriate regulatory action. I would also expect clarification on what steps will be taken to prevent similar content from being aired in the future.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I look forward to your response.
